The Florence Township Brush & Compost Site is open to residents on a limited basis from May to November for disposal of yard waste. The site is located at the corner of Van Blarcum Avenue and Green Street in Old Frontenac. 

Materials allowed are grass clippings, garden waste, leaf litter, brush and small branches (up to 3 inches in diameter). No building materials or large branches or trees are allowed. 

This is available to TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS ONLY! No commercial use.

Volunteers will monitor the site during its open hours, which are generally 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays during the season.

This service is available only because volunteers have stepped up to guarantee there will be someone at the site while it’s open. 

Why the vigilance? Most of you/us use the compost site reasonably and ethically, but after several instances of nasty dumping -- tires, old cabinets, demolition debris, big trees cut down outside of our township -- and unknown people carelessly setting the site, which is near many of our homes, on fire, we had to choose between entirely closing it or having volunteers monitor it during limited open hours. We, and our Town Board, opted for the latter. See you there on its open Saturday mornings, neighbors!

3. Click on the open Saturday you want and then select "Reserve Full Day" (only one shift available each day: 9 a.m. to noon).
